BY WILLIAM A. COX, M.D.
FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST/NEUROPATHOLOGIST
Over the past several years I have had the opportunity to function both as a Forensic Pathologist and Forensic Neuropathologist. During this time I have examined thousands of brains, given lectures to medical students, pathology residents and neurosurgery residents, and have had many discussions with attorneys both in and out of the courtroom. During this process it has become clear there is a general lack of understanding of the fundamental concepts within forensic neuropathology among health care professionals, attorneys, and the public. It is with these thoughts in mind that this Blog on Forensic Pathology was established, the purpose of which is to give some understanding of these fundamental concepts.
The posts to this blog will be categorized under either Forensic Pathology or Forensic Neuropathology.

Dr. Cox,
Hello, how are you doing today? In recent weeks I have been exploring my curiosity of forensic science and I came across your website (thru the blogroll of someone else). I was wondering if I could link your “human-skeletal-remains.pdf” to my website? I think it serves as an excellent introduction into forensic anthropology.
Thanks for your time. Take care,
– Lynda

Alvin D. Blumberg M.D.
Dr. Cox.I was an extern and then an intern Robert B. Green Hospital, Bexar, County San Antonio Texas. Dr. Hausman was the person who introduced me to pathology.
I left San Antonio and went to a Foreign Medical School and was the first UT Medical Resident at Bexar County until I got drafted.
I spent 10 years with USPHS and then started a practise in Las Vegas. Nevada. I would like to know the name and address of his son if possible as I was very close to them just before Dr. Hausman left Bexar County. I greatly appreciate giving us the chance to relive what transpired in Texas in 1964. Best regards Alvin D. Blumberg M.D. at tomiyasu@aol.com.
P.S. I was juat recognized in a publication that I was the first one to set up a tissue culture laboratory in Mexico City in 1957.

Anna Eis Mygind
Hello, Dr. Cox,
My name is Anna Mygind, and I’m a student at Eisbjerghus Efterskole in Nr. Aaby, Denmark.
This week I have a big assignment about my future, and since I want to be a medical examiner, that is what my assignment is about.
I therefore would very much appreciate it if you
could take the time to answer some questions about the profession,
daily work and accomplishments/obstacles which comes with being a medical examiner, the procedures of an autopsy, and maybe share some personal experiences relevant to my topic.
It would be of great help, and would not take more than about 10 minutes to answer my questions.
If you’re interested in helping or have questions for me, please feel free to write back on: anna_louise_mygind@hotmail.com.
I hope you’ll be willing to help me.
Yours truly,
Anna Mygind
